28 Arrested Protestors Plead Not Guilty

HILI, THE BIG ISLAND (Ben Caxton) — 28 of 38 protestors arrested for blocking access to the summit of Mauna Kea told a court on the Big Island Friday that they are not guilty because they have the right of “freedom” of religion. Te judge hearing the cases set pretrial conferences for most of the group, mostly island elders, for October and November. Trials for three others who were part of a group of nine arraigned back in August are scheduled to start beginning November 1st, and November 22nd.
