HONOLULU, OAHU (Ben Caxton) — Lifeguards have recovered the body of a man swept out to sea off Kaena Point on Oahu. The victim’s body was discovered a little before 8:00 AM Monday at Yokohama Bay. Rescuers were called to the area to help two swimmers in distress around 5:15 PM Sunday. They were able to pull a 21-year-old woman to shore who was then taken to the hospital in critical condition. However, despite a search by the Hawaii Fire Department and the U.S. Coast Guard, her 19-year-old companion could not be located before operations had to end for the night due to ocean conditions and darkness. A high surf advisory was in effect for the area at the time.
