Boulders Replace Cars Under Kaua`i Bridges

LIHU`E, KAUA`I (Ben Caxton) — As part of its effort to restore safety to public spaces around the island, the Kaua`i Police Department recently began removing cars illegally parked under the Wailua Bridge. The effort got underway around 7:00 AM Tuesday morning and with help from the County of Kaua’i’s Parks & Recreation Department, the eyesores were replaced with boulders to prevent the owners from returning and parking under the bridge in the future. Authorities had been regularly visiting people living at the bridge over the last two weeks to alert them that the cleanup was coming.
