KAHULUI, MAUI (Ben Caxton) — Three divers who spent hours treading water in the open ocean when they were separated from their tour boat were rescued by the Coast Guard Monday about 30 miles of Kahului. The Coast Guard was called in by the operator of a 23-foot dive boat after the men went missing around 2:00 PM. In response two vessels and a helicopter were dispatched to search. All three were eventually located together, waving their dive fins at the searching helicopter to attract its attention. None of the three men were injured. They were taken by to their boat which was then escorted to port in Kahului.
