LIHU`E, KAUA`I (Ben Caxton) — Rainfall chances will remain high through tonight across the western end of the state as a cold front approaches and stalls. Because of the threat of heavy rains, a Flash Flood Watch has been posted for Kaua`i and Ni`ihau through 6:00 AM Thursday morning. A surf advisory is also in effect through this evening. Forecasters say a drying trend along with a return of a more typical trade wind pattern is anticipated starting Thanksgiving Day and into Friday though as high pressure builds to the north and the frontal boundary diminishes and drifts westward. Trade winds will become breezy statewide over the weekend, with even drier conditions possible Sunday through Monday.
