Kawakami Says Happy Thanksgiving – and Shop Local Saturday

LIHU`E, KAUA`I (Ben Caxton) — Mayor Derek Kawakami he says wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and holiday season and wishes that everyone will support local business by shopping locally. Kawakami proclaimed Saturday as Small Business Saturday in a video released to the county’s Facebook page. He says local businesses create jobs, boost Kaua`i’s economy, and preserve island communities. According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, there are 30.7 million small businesses in the United States, they represent 99.7 percent of all firms with paid employees in the United States, and are responsible for 64.9 percent of net new jobs created from 2000 to 2018.
