Maui Is the Home Of Earth’s Heaviest Avocado

WAILUKU, MAUI (Ben Caxton) — If you’re looking for the home of the biggest, heaviest avocado on the planet, look no further than Maui. This week the island’s Pokini family received a Guinness certificate for a fruit grown on their avocado tree that weighed in at 5.6 pounds. The Maui News reported that the avocado tree that produced the prize-winning fruit is ten years old and stands twenty feet high and was grown from a seed from his parents 50-year-old tree on Oahu.
