WAILUA HOMESTEADS, KAUA`I (Ben Caxton) — The Pu`uopae Bridge in Wailua Homesteads will be closed Monday through Friday as work to replace the span gets underway. The closure is to allow a safe working environment as crews will install temporary waterline supports and additional supports on the bridge in preparation for demolition. The bridge will be open briefly the following weekend but is expected to close permanently on the 22nd as a new structure is built. During that time crews will remove the existing bridge deck, and also relocate a Department of Water line. That work is expected to last through at least June of next year.
