Security Increased at Middle School After Threats

LIHU`E, KAUA`I (Ben Caxton) — Security was increased at a local middle school amid threats posted to social media by a student. Kaua`i District Superintendent Bill Arakaki emailed staff early Friday morning saying that they were alerted to the threat by Kaua`i Police who are continuing to investigate. The email did not detail the threats to Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School, but the Garden Isle newspaper reported that one Chiefess student’s mother said another boy shared “radical” videos with other kids on the school bus, including her child, threatening to “shoot up the school”.
