Shark Sighting Forces Closure Of Waiohai Beach to Swimming

PO`IPU, KAUA`I (Ben Caxton) — Ocean Safety officials on Monday closed Waiohai Beach in Po`ipu to swimming due to a shark sighting. Lifeguards reported seeing a roughly nine-foot grey reef shark offshore. Signs were posted to warn all beachgoers and lifeguards will reassess today if it is safe to go back into the water.
